Documental Mil agujas por la Dignidad
Mil agujas por la Dignidad fue una manifestación textil que se llevó a cabo en más de 83 localidades del mundo, entre las que se destacan 21 ciudades chilenas y ciudades de países como España, Francia, Inglaterra, Nueva Zelanda, Suecia, Canadá, Israel, México, Argentina, Perú, Puerto Rico, entre otros. Este encuentro se realizó de forma simultanea el 7 de diciembre de 2019, marcando un hito en materia de artivismos textiles. Este proyecto fue creado y gestado por la artista e historiadora chilena Karen Rosentreter Villarroel, que reside actualmente en Barcelona.
El objetivo de este encuentro fue convocar a artistas y personas afines al arte textil para crear postales en torno al estallido social en Chile y diversos conflictos de otros países de América Latina. Otro de los objetivos de esta manifestación fue el uso del espacio público para realizar los encuentros, creando instalaciones artísticas con los mensajes textiles realizados. Esta manifestación también surgió como un espacio para dar voz y visibilidad a los chilenos y chilenas repartidos por el mundo, ya que les permitió hacerse participe de lo que estaba aconteciendo en su país.
Su creadora enfatizó en que era fundamental la Difusión y reivindicación del arte textil por ser una disciplina invisibilizada en la historia del arte, por ser mayoritariamente realizada por mujeres que no siempre han contado con formación académica, y que han trasmitido de generación en generación sus conocimientos de forma desinteresada.
Esta fue una manifestación autogestionada, abierta a toda la comunidad y que no contó con ninguna inclinación partidista en particular. En la actualidad, Mil agujas por la Dignidad es una plataforma artística que se dedica a promover proyectos textiles de agrupaciones de todo el mundo y a generar eventos artísticos que contribuyan a la reivindicación del arte textil y a la visibilización de su rol como herramienta de lucha por los derechos de las mujeres y otras causas sociales.
La preparación y montaje de la manifestación contó con diferentes etapas. Cada grupo participante se inscribió a través de un formulario online. Posterior a ello recibieron las bases que buscaban orientar un trabajo más menos similar en todas las manifestaciones de Mil agujas por la Dignidad.
En la mayoría de los encuentros se leyó el manifiesto de Mil agujas por la Dignidad, creado por la gestora de esta manifestación.

El lanzamiento oficial del documental fue el viernes 9 de octubre a través de una transmisión de Zoom por Facebook Live de Mil agujas por la Dignidad. La producción audiovisual resume todo lo que significó esta manifestación textil mundial y fue un trabajo colaborativo entre Karen Rosentreter Villarroel, creadora y gestora de la manifestación y de las ilustraciones artísticas del vídeo y el diseñador talquino Rodrigo Garrido Lepe, quién estuvo a cargo del trabajo de diseño y la edición del documental.

Documentary A thousand needles for Dignity
A thousand needles for Dignity was a textile demonstration that took place in more than 83 locations around the world, including 21 Chilean cities and cities in countries such as Spain, France, England, New Zealand, Sweden, Canada, Israel, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Puerto Rico, among others. This meeting was held simultaneously on December 7, 2019, marking a milestone in the field of textile artivisms. This project was created and conceived by the Chilean artist and historian Karen Rosentreter Villarroel, who currently resides in Barcelona.
The objective of this meeting was to convene artists and people related to textile art to create postcards around the social outbreak in Chile and various conflicts in other Latin American countries. Another objective of this event was the use of public space to hold the meetings, creating artistic installations with the textile messages made. This demonstration also emerged as a space to give voice and visibility to Chileans throughout the world, since it allowed them to participate in what was happening in their country.
Its creator emphasized that the dissemination and vindication of textile art was fundamental because it is an invisible discipline in the history of art, because it is mainly carried out by women who have not always had academic training, and who have transmitted their knowledge from generation to generation disinterestedly.
This was a self-organized demonstration, open to the entire community and with no particular partisan leanings. Currently, Thousand Needles for Dignity is an artistic platform that is dedicated to promoting textile projects of groups from all over the world and generating artistic events that contribute to the vindication of textile art and the visibility of its role as a tool in the struggle for women's rights and other social causes.
The preparation and assembly of the demonstration had different stages. Each participating group registered through an online form. After that, they received the bases that sought to guide a more less similar work in all the manifestations of Thousand Needles for Dignity. In most of the meetings, the manifesto of A Thousand Needles for Dignity, created by the manager of this demonstration, was read.

The official launch of the documentary was on Friday, October 9, through a Zoom transmission on Facebook Live of A Thousand Needles for Dignity. The audiovisual production summarizes everything that this global textile manifestation meant and was a collaborative work between Karen Rosentreter Villarroel, creator and manager of the manifestation and the artistic illustrations of the video, and the designer from Talquino Rodrigo Garrido Lepe, who was in charge of the work of design and editing of the documentary.
